The Homestead
The homestead was built a hundred years ago, and served as rectory to the local church from the 1950's. Heinz and Helen Meyer bought the farm in 1994, endeavouring to restore its historic splendour. Antique furnishings and tasteful decor ring true to the homestead's Victorian past, while oregon pine floorboards and high-beamed ceilings reflect its rustic surroundings. With great care and dedication, they have recreated an elegant tribute to colonial country living.

A beautiful country lodge surrounded by glorious gardens
A wonderful country lodge in a peaceful and beautiful location. The staff were fabulous and went many extra miles to ensure our stay was special.

Breakfast was excellent in terms of quality and amount. The location was superb in its beauty and peacefulness. The room was excellent in comfort and size and the premises had an excellent atmosphere.

If your looking for a family run, good quality small hotel with charm and character this is for you. Slightly out of the way, surrounded by countryside, with a beautiful garden and pool area. Staff couldn't do any more for you. Offers buffet breakfast and great food in the evening within a sheltered outside area.

Great overnight we wished we’d booked for 2 nights
Beautiful setting, swimming pool, rooms were enormous and very comfortable. You could eat dinner there which after a long drive was fantastic great breakfast also. The staff were lovely too.
It was like stepping back in time to a previous era and one was immersed in the country experience

Breakfast was superb as was the dinner. We spent 2 nights there and ate in each night. The pool and gardens were delightful.

Personal service was 5* Location!! Walking distance to Winery. Up the road from an ostrich farm. And a quick drive to the Canva Caves. Food was exceptional. The rooms were suites with a sitting lounge/tv room. It was the little things that made our stay fantastic; sherry in the rooms - gorgeous garden and the house is filled with unique antiques.

Breakfast was perfect and served in a lovely outdoor setting. Our room was beautiful - well equipped and with the most comfortable bed in South Africa! The honesty bar was a lovely feature and enabled us to meet other guests. All were returners which says it all for The Altes Landhaus.

Lovely room and dining room. The best thing was all the staff. The Managers and especially Madeleine and Jessica, so helpful and caring. wonderful people who we hope to keep in touch with.
